Meet The Team

Daisha Nesbitt

Founder, New York State Licensed Mental Health Counselor, Clinical Supervisor, EMDR Trained, CCTP

I am a Licensed Mental Health Counselor with a strong commitment to providing support to individuals from diverse age ranges and cultural backgrounds. My interest in the field of psychology was sparked in my early years while participating as a book buddy in elementary school, igniting a desire to assist others in their journey towards mental wellness.

Following my foundational experiences, I pursued a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from S.U.N.Y. College at Old Westbury, complemented by a Masters of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling and Preliminary Clinical Alcohol and Substance Abuse Counselor Training at Long Island University C.W. Post. Furthermore, I have expanded my expertise by completing EMDR training and achieving certification as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP) to enhance the quality of care provided to my clients.

Over the course of my career, I have acquired extensive experience in diverse environments including outpatient facilities, educational institutions, family shelters, substance abuse treatment centers, and residential facilities catering to children, allowing me to offer comprehensive and specialized support to those in need.

In my free time I enjoy traveling, Lego, corny jokes, planning and time with family.

Miranda Carfora

MHC- Intern

My name is Miranda and I am a graduate student in the mental health and wellness program at NYU. Throughout my program, I have learned to self-reflect, grow, and promote equity as a counselor. My focus of interest is on anxiety and trauma-focused work, particularly with young adults and emerging adulthood populations (17-25). I am passionate about learning different treatment approaches and modalities, with a particular interest in EMDR therapy and TF-CBT. I am committed to cultural competency and lifelong learning, and I am eager to gain more experience and understanding through this internship.

My professional goal is to work with young adults and emerging adult populations, with a focus on complex trauma, childhood emotional neglect, and heart-focused work. I am dedicated to providing holistic and empathetic care, focusing on the human element rather than diagnosis or pathologizing.

In my coursework, I have gained valuable knowledge in counseling practice, social justice, growth and development, abnormal psychology, trauma, and inner child healing therapy. I have learned about empirically-validated approaches and want to integrate what I have learned in books into real practice. I am passionate about helping clients understand their emotions, learn skills, increase confidence, heal from trauma, and find balance in new life dynamics.

Overall, I am dedicated to facilitating transformation and empowering my clients to be themselves. I am committed to providing culturally competent care and integrating evidence-based modalities into my practice, including Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), EMDR, Solution Focus Therapy, and Inner Child Healing modalities. I am excited to continue my journey as a counselor and contribute to the well-being of others.

I enjoy reading, journaling, making candles, word games, cozy video games, spending time with my sweet puppy!
